Our Art catalogue hasn’t been running as long as our Design Technology
catalogue and is growing every year at a healthy rate. It contains a whole
range of art equipment at competitive prices. The format of the art catalogue
changed 4 years ago to a smaller A5 size, which is easier to handle. This
was decided after some extensive market research was done in art departments
with art teachers in which we asked about the content of the art catalogue,
the art equipment available and the overall layout. The new format proved
popular as the large photographs on each page show the art equipment arranged
clearly with the descriptions opposite.
We update our range of art equipment, as different materials and subjects are introduced into the art classroom. Recent additions to our art equipment are digital imaging and sublimation printing. We recognised the need for introducing digital cameras, scanners and printers for imaging work, and not just offering traditional art equipment.
In this years art catalogue we included information on the
laser cutters near the front of the catalogue as textiles is becoming more
prominent in art as well as design technology. We felt this would be an ideal
use for a laser cutter in an art department. Including the laser cutter was
one of the main additions to the art equipment and we focused it on engraving
textiles and creating prints by cutting out designs in lino and using it as
a printing block.
